Northern Territory Million Dollar Barra Fishing Competition

Northern Territory tourism body Do the NT is promoting the Million Dollar Fish Competition whereby 76 tagged barramundi will be released across the Top End from October 1, 2015 — including one lucky barramundi that will earn its finder one million dollars.

An additional 75 tagged fish will each be worth $10,000, so expect to see one of Australia’s great sportfishing locations swamped with hopeful fishos.

What’s more, Million Dollar Fish registration is free and the Northern Territory does not require recreational fishing licences, meaning all you need do is get up there and get fishing to be in the running.

All prize fish must be line caught and there are strict criteria to validate the authenticity of your tagged barra, so don’t just rip out the tag and throw your catch on the barbecue.

Early bird registrations (before August 31, 2015) also go into the draw for a $20,000 trip to the NT, including flights, accommodation, tackle and a three day fishing charter.
