Mark Taylor Gets Behind 'Keep Australia Fishing' Group
Former Australian cricket captain Mark “Tubby” Taylor has thrown his weight behind Keep Australia Fishing (KAF), a national organisation recently established to ensure Aussie fishos continue to enjoy sustainable access to the country’s public waters.
According to the organisation, KAF’s key aims are to engage with Australia’s recreational fishing community and to protect, promote and develop recreational fishing opportunities through education on the benefits of recreational fishing, raising awareness of recreational fishing, and activities aimed at protecting present and future opportunities of recreational anglers.
KAF is a not-for-profit organisation supported by the Australian tackle industry and the Australian Recreational Fishing Foundation, and its directors include Fishing World magazine editor Jim Harnwell, Pure Fishing managing director Phillip Coles, BRP Evinrude’s Riley Tolmay, WA Angler editor Scott Coghlan and well-known angling activist Scott Mitchell. Businessman and IGFA trustee K. Neil Patrick is the organisation’s chairman, while Tubby Taylor has taken on the role as KAF’s ambassador.
And TrailerBoat’s own columnist Dr Julian “Dr J” Pepperell has been appointed an independent scientific adviser along with Dr Stuart Rowland.
In addition to campaigning to protect the rights of Aussie anglers, KAF is working to improve the environment and fish habitat, and is currently part of a campaign helping anglers, landowners and conservations stop a pipeline planned for the Macquarie River in central-western NSW.
