Pirtek Fishing Challenge registrations open

Registrations have opened for the Pirtek Fishing Challenge, a competition open to anglers in all States and Territories that hopes to raise funds and awareness for the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia.

The Challenge is slated to run across the country on April 10, 2011. Each State’s target species will be revealed after 6.00pm on Saturday, April 9, 2011 via the Pirtek Fishing Challenge website. Competitors must catch their State’s target species, photograph the fish on the Pirtek brag mat along with their registered angler number, and send the photo to the Pirtek Fishing Challenge website.

Pirtek said it encourages all anglers to practice catch and release.

All entrants will go into the draw for a number of prizes, including a 4.8m Polycraft Brumby with a 75hp Evinrude E-TEC, Lowrance electronics, and more, valued at $34,600. All up, $140,000 in prizes are up for grabs.

Stephen Dutton, general manager of Pirtek Fluid Systems, said the event is growing stronger every year.

“2011 sees the Challenge increase to $140,000 in cash and prizes and Pirtek urges all fishos young and old to become involved. Fight a fish to fight prostate cancer on April 10 and have a great day out with your family and friends,” he said.

The Pirtek Fishing challenge runs on Sunday, April 10, 2011 between 6.00am and 6.00pm. Entry is $20 with all fees supporting the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia. Competitors will also receive a limited edition cap and brag mat.
