Not long until 16th Annual Snapper Classic

Over 700 anglers are expected to converge on Hobsons Bay and the surrounding area from December 11-13 when they compete for $45,000 in cash and prizes at the 16th Annual Snapper Classic.

The objective of the competition, say the organisers, is to promote the sport of competitive fishing, and to foster fellowship and ethical fishing practise among anglers.

The major prize is a Haines Hunter 475 Profish, valued at $25,000. The details of all adult entrants will be entered into the draw, meaning entrants do not even need to catch a fish to win.

The 16th Annual Snapper Classic is staged by the Altona Boating and Angling Club, in Victoria. The event is support by Port Phillip Boating Centre, Bendigo Bank, Altona Village Traders Association, Big M and other sponsors.

The competition is based at Cresser Reserve, Altona, next to the boat launching facility. Fishing commences at 6pm, on Friday, December 11, and concludes at 1pm on Sunday, December 13. The presentation commences at 3.30pm, where the Haines Hunter prize boat winner will be drawn.

Entry is $35 adults ($45 after 6 December) and $25 for children aged 5-15 years. Fishing is restricted to Port Phillip Bay and may be done from a boat, pier, breakwater, jetty or shoreline.
