FROM THE HELM

For an old stink boater like me, getting the opportunity to take our brand-new Coastryder 6m Hardtop Fisherman giveaway boat down to Geelong and join in the fun at the Audi Victoria Week sailing regatta was a real eye-opener.

And what a spectacle it was. The sight of more than 440 yachts racing across the Bay to the finishing line in front of the Royal Geelong Yacht Club has to be seen to be believed.

But it wasn’t all plain sailing during the Passage Race, the first of many races over the Australia Day weekend. Greg Cooper and Peter Southwell’s Ten Too sank approximately 10 nautical miles from the start of the race after colliding with Leo Cantwell’s Magic Bullet.

It wasn’t a good start for the week, but the incident was soon forgotten by the more than 5000 people that swelled the population of Geelong to join in the regatta party.

The one good thing to come from the weekend for TrailerBoat, was the amount of people that showed interest in the new Coastryder giveaway boat. So, if you want to be in with a chance to win it, you better get your entries in quickly.
