Haines Hunter boats enthusiasts at the 2015 Melbourne Boat Show had more than one reason to get excited. Not only has Haines Hunter released a range of competitively priced boat packages, but the Haines Hunter 565 Offshore launched at last year’s boat show is now available as a newly re-designed Haines Hunter 565R (Runabout).

“We’re very excited to launch the Haines Hunter 565 as an R (Runabout) model,” Tim Davies from Haines Hunter told Trade-a-Boat at the boat show.

Said to have been on the drawing board at Haines Hunter for many years, the Haines Hunter 565 R has come about from a combination of research and customer feedback.

“We’ve rebuilt the mould of the Haines Hunter Offshore into a sleeker design,” says Tim Davies. “The Haines Hunter R has a great appeal because it’s a lot sleeker than the Haines Hunter Offshore. The cabin’s smaller and there’s more room in the deck area for fishing,” he says. Key features includes a rear transom door, a spacious dash for modern marine electronics, and (two popular options) a rear seat or skipole. Importantly, it can be towed by an average family car.

The Haines Hunter 565 R is intended to be a highly capable all-rounder boat. Though obviously not an exclusive fishing machine, Tim Davies says it can still handle some impressive conditions.

“It’s certainly capable of going offshore,” he says. “Haines Hunter managing director John Haber has actually done 200km offshore at Portland, yet he can still take his family fishing in Port Phillip Bay or water-skiing,” says Tim Davies.

Haines Hunter 565 R price

The Haines Hunter 565 R price starts from $55,000 up to about $68,000 for a thoroughly optioned boat. A Haines Hunter 565 R Ltd may also be on the cards for 2016.

“We feel this boat is so highly optioned that we’ll probably put it into a Limited model. Maybe that’ll be something for next year,” says Tim Davies.

The second exciting Haines Hunter attraction at the 2015 Melbourne Boat Show was the official launch of a range of Haines Hunter boat-motor-trailer packages.

Standardised boat packages are put together at the Haines Hunter factory, resulting in more competitive pricing. At the time of publication, Tim Davies says there were half a dozen participating Haines Hunter dealers partaking in the program.

“This is a unique program in that it will be promoted nationally. There’ll be recommended retail pricing on all the boat models, so that means consistent pricing throughout Australia,” says Tim Davies. Finance plans are available via Mercury Finance.

• Haines Hunter 495 Profish. Price: $37,990 with 75 hp Mercury four-stroke.
• Haines Hunter 520R. Price: $41,990 with 90 hp Mercury four-stroke.
• Haines Hunter 565 Offshore. Price: $61,500 with 115 hp Mercury four-stroke.
• Haines Hunter 585R. Price: $76,790 with 150 hp Mercury four-stroke.
• Haines Hunter 595 Offshore. Price: $70,990 with 135 hp Mercury four-stroke.
• Haines Hunter 625 Offshore. Price: $102,990 with 200 hp Mercury four-stroke.
