Product Review

Navico — the company behind Simrad and Lowrance marine electronics — says boat owners can receive the updates and marine charts they require by connecting to the Navico GoFree service.

The following Navico marine electronics are among the products that can currently receive update notifications in this form, by linking to the GoFree online store:

  • Simrad NSS Evo2 and Simrad NSO Evo2 multi-function displays.
  • Lowrance HDS Gen3 and Lowrance HDS Gen2 Touch multi-function displays.

What this means for you?

You can get the latest Navico / Simrad / Lowrance software update from home before heading out on the water. Marine maps can also be easily downloaded before heading out to a fishing spot.

Mobile connectivity on the water is possible by tethering your MFD to a 3G or 4G-enabled smartphone using WiFi. Obviously, you can do the same thing at home (or from your driveway on a trailer) via a home internet connection.

What else is on the Navico GoFree store?
