NEW 150HP AND 170HP MERCURY DIESEL ENGINES

Mercury Diesel has expanded its product range with the release of new 150hp and 170hp variants of its Mercury Diesel two-litre inline-4 platform.

The new Mercury Diesel engines will be available as both inboards and sterndrives. They are fully compatible with Mercury DTS (Digital Throttle & Shift) technology.

“These Inline-4 diesels are great engines,” said Mercury director David Meehan.

“The new 150hp and 170hp Tier 3 models both boast variable geometry turbo (VGT) technology which provides peak torque at 2000rpm, so turbo-lag virtually disappears, your boat gets to plane faster and drivers enjoy outstanding operating characteristics,” he said.

The new engines are 80cm long and 71cm wide. According to Mercury, they produce only 68 decibels, making them quieter than a normal conversation. A closed cooling system also increases engine longevity by keeping corrosion at bay.

The new Mercury Diesel engines are built on the same two-litre Inline-4 platform as the existing Mercury Diesel 115hp and 130hp models.

These engines use the latest common-rail fuel-injection technology and are fully compatible with Mercury SmartCraft.
“These new larger 150hp and 170hp variants mean Mercury Diesel now has engines which meet the stringent Tier 3 emission standards all the way from 115hp to 370hp,” Meehan said.

The new Mercury Diesel 150hp and 170hp 2 litre Inline-4 engines are now available from Mercury Diesel dealers in Australia and New Zealand for recreational use.
