Telwater moves engine market online
Marine giant Telwater has announced its Vortex brand of engines will now be available for purchase online — a first for the Australian marine industry.
In a media release sent out by Telwater, it says the move online will make the brand more accessible to the boating public, who previously could only obtain a Vortex engine as part of boat, motor and trailer packages through the Telwater dealer network.
Telwater, the Queensland-based marine conglomerate behind Quintrex, Stacer and Savage, to name a few, will now sell Vortex engines direct to the public, anywhere in Australia. While not without controversy, Vortex project manager Michael Walker says the decision simply marks the next step in Telwater’s ultimate goal to make boating more affordable to the public.
“Our overall mission is to provide the customer with an affordable and easily accessible engine alternative, and retailing online in the next step to achieving that goal,” he said.
The company attributes its shift online to the successful release of its Vortex range in July, 2011. “Due to this success we see an opportunity to take business online and sell direct to the public,” Mr Walker said.
