Sydney Bridge to Bridge turns 50
This year marks the 50th
The race has come a long way since 19 boats first had it out in 1961, and is now an internationally renowned water ski race attracting over 1200 competitors from Australia and abroad.
The adventure starts at Dangar Island near Brooklyn at the mouth of the Hawkesbury River, and finishes 112km upstream at the historic town of Windsor. The fastest competitors finish this epic journey in the hair-raising time of 40 minutes.
This year’s 50th Anniversary celebrations will include a special Parade of Champions, where winners from the past will ski a lap of honour behind vintage, race-winning boats. There will be loads of food and drink stalls, rides and entertainment for the kids, plus a display outlining the race’s rich history.
The celebrations will take place this
weekend, November 12-13, at Governor Phillip Park in Windsor, with the race itself happening on the Sunday morning.
