Sunshine Coast Marine Festival ready to kick off

The Sunshine Coast Marine Festival is the newest addition to the Queensland boating calendar, and is set to kick off on November 19.

The event will run alongside the Sunshine Coast Sailing Expo, and will be held at the Mooloolaba Marina and Yacht Club — coinciding with the reopening of the club after a seven year closure.

Marine Queensland events manager Jason Plant reckons the event will be well received in a region that boasts a boat ownership ratio of one registered boat for every 18 residents.

“Boat registrations are higher than ever before and even though times are tougher than in previous years many boat owners are still looking for ways to upgrade – whether it is to a newer model boat or through accessories,” he said.

Punters can check out all the latest gear and accessories, as well as more than 25 brands of boats including sailing boats, offshore fishing boats, tinnies, fibreglass boats and PWCs.

“By putting on a festival that is solely dedicated to the on water lifestyle we aim to bring to the region the new product releases and the fishing talks and demonstrations that have been enjoyed by visitors to the southern based shows for years,” Mr Plant said.

The festival will run across November 19 and 20. Visit www.marinefestivals.com.au for more information.
