Peace of mind for used boat buyers

Purchasing a used boat has become less risky with the launch of a new Boating Industry Association-backed used boat warranty program, managed by Nautilus Marine. 

The BIA Dealer Certified Used Boat Warranty will assist buyers in identifying quality used boats by requiring participating dealers to put each boat through its paces in an extensive range of tests. The boat will be subject to a 50 point pre-sale inspection to ensure it is fully operational, mechanically sound and of a standard appropriate to its age and hour meter reading.

Every boat, motor and trailer package covered by the BIA Certified Used Boat Warranty will be fully covered for one year against mechanical failure. The boat buyer can also extend the cover to two years for a fee.

The warranty has a limit of $7500 in total, with specified limits attached to individual items or assemblies. As a condition of the BIA Certified Used Boat warranty the owner is required to have the boat serviced every 12 months or 100 hours.
