Staying In The Game

John Sepe is living proof that getting older needn’t stop you from getting out on the water. The 79 year old has been an avid boatie for 40 years and, weather permitting, still gets out on the water everyday.

A recent shoulder injury forced John to downgrade his larger boat to his current 13ft tinnie, powered by a new 20hp Mercury FourStroke. John says both the boat and the engine are easy to use and work well.

John bought his first boat in the early 1970s — a Caribbean Crestcutter with a 90hp Mercury 6-cylinder outboard. He’s been a bit of a Mercury man since then, and reckons he wouldn’t own any other brand of engine.

John regularly takes the tinnie out on Warnbro Sound, just south of Perth, where he fishes for herring, whiting and squid. We reckon that’s a blissful way to spend one’s twilight years, good on ya Johnny.
