Sea Jay Boats announces new Topender centre-consoles
Fresh from unveiling its 6.2 Pursuit
According to Sea Jay, the Topender series of boats are designed for maximum deck space with minimal clutter. The space saving is said to have been achieved by raising and lengthening the front casting platform, creating a cavity that is large enough to hide an Esky and other large items.
The Topender model is available in 4.55, 4.85, 5.0 and 5.4m and is fitted with a side-console that can house the required gauges and electronics as well as a battery underneath. The 5.4m has a larger console positioned in the middle towards the rear.
Sea Jay says an external shelf is fitted on the front of the console, creating a handy spot to hold lures, drinks, glasses, knifes or tackle. This space accommodates a vertical rodholder that can fit up to five rods. Additional rod stowage comes in the form of four plastic ones mounted to the sidedecks and four alloy ones on the baitboard, for a total of 13 rodholder positions.
The models have 3mm sides and bottoms (the 5.4m model has 4mm bottoms), creating an appearance that is said to be tough yet stylish. The hull design features Sea Jay’s “sure trac” reverse chine which is said to improve stability at rest while offering a smooth ride and good fuel efficiency.
A removable baitboard mounted at the transom comes standard as is an electric motor mount extended off the gunwale. A large battery rack is situated under the second hatch of the front casting platform to hold the electric motor battery. Alternatively, this rack can be used as another storage area.
