Offshore Challenge heads north

After successfully navigating the many challenges of the Bass Strait Rally in February, the Australian Offshore Challenge is heading for warmer climes, with the Gold Coast to Whitsundays Rally set to be run from August 26 to September 3.

Registrations are now open for this 700nm navigational rally, which is open to all powerboats of 6m or over, including trailerable boats and sportscruisers of all descriptions.

Prizes will be on offer for the crews who are most consistent in meeting their target times across a variety of conditions, and there will be several other awards based on boat class, plus a novelty award. Every crew that completes the rally will receive a Finisher’s Plaque.

However, beyond prizes, the Australian Offshore Challenge is more about developing navigational skills, gaining practical seamanship skills, and having a heap of fun with like-minded others as you pilot your boat through some of Australia’s most spectacular waters. The event is fully supported with escort vessels, medical staff, refuelling facilities, catering and recovery equipment.

Registration for the Australian Offshore Challenge Gold Coast to Whitsundays Rally can be secured with a $100 deposit. Visit www.offshorechallenge.com.au for more information.
