Honda Over The Top Expedition to raise cancer awareness
Two brothers are about to embark on a 9500km voyage from Sydney to Perth in a rigid inflatable boat (RIB), to raise awareness for prostate cancer and to encourage Aussie men to have regular medical check-ups.
Prostate cancer survivor Peter Jenkins and his brother Phillip will be setting out from the Sydney International Boat Show on August 1, then guiding their custom 8.6m RIB “Over The Top” around Australia’s eastern, northern and western coastlines, hopefully finishing in Perth some eight weeks later.
Sponsored by Honda Australia, plus Toll Energy Logistics, Bailey Marine Fuels, Jet Torque Marine, Furuno Australia, BLA, The Hub Marketing Communications and Sandman PR, the RIB will be powered by twin Honda BF225 outboards.
According to Honda Australia general manager, Vikram Pawah, the marine and automotive giant was only too pleased to throw its weight behind the venture. “The Honda Over The Top Expedition celebrates Australia’s adventurous spirit and outdoor culture, while at the same time spreading an important message about one of the most common cancers in men in Australia, second only to skin cancer,” he said.
The brothers are hoping the voyage will help them raise around $200,000 for Cancer Council Australia.
