BRP Australia lowers pricing

On the back of a buffed and bouncy Aussie dollar, BRP Australia, maker of Sea-Doo and Evinrude marine equipment, has announced it will do something corporations never do: lower prices.

One BRP executive told TrailerBoat that this is the most significant marketing strategy development in the company’s Australian history. “BRP will invest in a multi-faceted action plan that includes broad price repositioning across its brand portfolio,” he said. A number of sales promotions are factored in to further lower the price on selected products, and BRP has introduced what it calls a “New BRP Owner’s Grant” to make prices even more attractive.

As an example of how this brave new strategy will work, until the end of April 2011, new Sea-Doo PWCs will come with a rebate of up to $2000 while E-TEC outboards are conferred with a $1000 rebate. BRP says customers can now save $4200 on the latest Sea-Doo RXT-X 260 PWC.

BRP also hopes that dropping the RRP for a time will help counter a tendency among rogue elements of the powersports community to bring in so-called “grey imports” that have no warranty and no claim to factory technical support should something go Phttt!!

Both the Evinrude and Sea-Doo rebate program run until April 30.
