Teenage cystic fibrosis sufferer on 2000km PWC journey
A 13-year-old cystic fibrosis sufferer, Coen Ashton, has been given an exemption on his restricted PWC licence by NSW Maritime to ride his jetski as fast as 20kts-plus on the Murray River.
Normally, teenagers his age aren’t allowed to do more than 10kts, however, Coen has been given the waiver so he can cover 2000km of Australia’s mightiest river in a charity ride to raise awareness about organ and tissue donation. The young rider will leave from Yarrawonga Weir, Victoria, and travel to Goolwa, SA, planning to arrive in time for the 2011 Australia Day celebrations on January 26.
Visit www.murraycodd.com (the CODD part stands for “Coen’s Organ Donor Drive”) for more information on how to sign up and donate.
