Vale: Allison Boats founder
The death of a pioneer always hits hard, so hard sometimes that few of us can understand why a life of achievement has to be marked by such an abrupt end.
We need more good men, not fewer, but we lost a good one recently when well known boatbuilder, Col Allison, dropped anchor for the last time. Col was 82. He founded Allison Boats in 1986 when he was 58 years old, an achievement in itself, and went on to develop a wide ranging boating style that Australians seemed to like.
Col’s company is still going under the Allison Alloy name. Our condolences go to Col’s family.
