New water toys from Yamaha

Yamaha has broken new ground with the introduction of its VX18R and VX18S PWCs, for the first time combining a lightweight NanoXcel hull with the fuel-injected, 1812cc four-cylinder engine normally found in the larger FX series.

Yamaha says the VX range delivers “incredible levels of acceleration and impressive top speed” — and frankly, we’re willing to believe every word.

According to Yamaha, NanoXcel hull construction dramatically reduces weight, yielding increased agility and more efficient fuel consumption. The NanoXcel hull is also said to be much stronger than conventional hulls and up to 25 per cent lighter. The overall finish is said to be “perfectly smooth” and, Yamaha claims, of a quality no other manufacturer can match.

Both craft have multi-function instrumentation, reverse, an extended rear boarding platform, and a purchase price that aims these particular Waverunners straight at lesser craft with a similar price. They are, says Yamaha, the most affordable muscle craft on the water.
