New fun boats from Bayliner
Berowra Waters Wholesale, the distributors of Bayliner and Trophy trailerboats, must be running a lot of overtime. The distributor is pumping out new models faster than we can write about them. Latest to hit the water are two new bowriders, the 160 and the 235, as well as a revamped version of the well known Bayliner 285 Cruiser.
The smaller 4.93m bowrider is described as having an “unbelievably spacious cockpit”, with many other features the designers consider important in this class of boat. These include an integrated transom platform, under-seat storage, waterproof instruments, and of course stubbie holders, thought by many to be man’s greatest invention after the disposable nappy. There’s also a choice of two and four-stroke Mercury powerplants.

160 BOWRIDER
The 6.8m 235 bowrider is said to offer “the next generation of styling features” and one of the largest cockpits in this class. What is described as “an enormous U-shaped lounge, with storage below, dominates the aft cockpit” and there’s easy access to the engine. The moulded wet locker is a cool idea for keeping wet gear off the deck.
Another useful feature is what Bayliner calls “interactive seating”. This allows the helm and port bucket seats, with flip-up bolsters, to rotate 180° so that up to 10 people can find a spot at the cockpit table. The 235 has stainless steel hardware, cupholders, and plenty of other clever design features to reduce cockpit wear and tear.
Engine choices are up there too. You can have Mercury’s 5lt, 260hp Mercruiser or buy-up to the 300hp 350 Magnum.
