Bundy Thunder will rock Queensland
The 2010 Wide Bay Ltd Bundy Thunder, an event billed as "Queensland’s biggest powerboat spectacular", is set to light up the Sunshine State’s city of Bundaberg over November 5 to 7 — and it seems like the whole community is throwing its weight behind the event.
While the weekend itself will see around 70 of Australia’s best drivers and their teams battle it out across classes including blown boats, 5-6lt displacements, formula powerboats, hydroplanes and more, Bundy Thunder will also see a number of pre-race activities played out before the big engines fire.
Late July saw a bevy of Bundaberg beauties introduced to the public at the city’s Sugarland Tavern, as the Bundy Thunder Ambassador Quest shifted into top gear. These "ambassadors for powerboat racing" will be doing their best to surpass the total of $55,000 raised for the Leukaemia Foundation last year, as they strive for major prizes like a P&O cruise and a tropical north Queensland holiday. The Quest’s winners, spanning eight categories, will be announced on Friday, November 5, at the Bundy Thunder Gala Pre-Race Party, to be held in Bundaberg’s Civic Centre.
The Bundy Thunder event benefits from funding from the Queensland Events Regional Development Program (QERDP), which has so far seen some $15.3m invested in 705 events across regional Queensland.
Adults and children aged 12 or older are in for $20 on either the Saturday or the Sunday, while kids under 12 are in for free. Visit www.bundythunder.com.au
