Boat Of The Month - Haines Signature 1850R (1991)
This 1991 model Haines Signature 1850R is for sale in Melbourne’s Patterson Lakes, but it would be at home in almost any Australian boating location. This particular model is a sought-after hull by those who appreciate its seagoing and handling qualities. That’s because it’s basically an offshore hull that’s versatile enough for fishing, skiing, wakeboarding, diving or just plain old cruising.
The package has had very limited use in saltwater and the hull barely has a mark, a clear indicator of its limited use.
It has plush back-to-back seats that drop down into comfortable sun lounges and a thickly upholstered rear seat that easily lifts out, transforming the boat from a ski/cruising vessel to a serious fishing machine. Anchoring and bow access is easy thanks to a full walkthrough-screen and hatch.
The boat had its power updated in 1999 to a Yamaha Pro V 200hp outboard with a mere 50 or so hours on the clock since fitting. That averages out to five hours a year! It already comes with a stainless skipole and fold-down ladder for loads of water fun, especially when you consider that the 200hp Yamaha gives it a very respectable top speed of approximately 75kmh.
