Spotlight - Trophy 1703
With an LOA of 5.18m and a beam of 2.18m, it’s compact, but still has plenty of room to move and an uninterrupted line of sight throughout the boat. Best of all, at just 850kg (with engine) it’s no heavyweight on the trailer, so a large (and invariably costly) tow vehicle is not required.
The Trophy 1703 is packed with loads of features, beginning with a quality construction. The deep-V hull is made from handlaid fibreglass backed up by a foam-filled stringer system. The stringers are bonded to the hull and deck to create a super-tough, unitized structure, which Trophy says provides a smooth ride and supreme durability. In fact, Trophy is so confident in its hulls that it provides a 10-year transferable structural hull warranty.
A 115hp Mercury Optimax outboard is said to deliver a perfect blend of performance and economy, further enhancing the 1703’s wallet-friendly credentials, while Trophy’s Drainage Response System ensures that water directed to the main cockpit drains away quickly, where scuppers hurry it overboard.
Of course when it comes to landing the big one, you won’t be left wanting. The 1703 features an 18-gallon aerated baitwell, a 20-gallon fishwell with drain, rodholders, rod storage and more. There’s a storage locker to keep gear safe and secure, and aft seating to back up the centre-console helm. A 12V accessories outlet adds to the practicality, as do drinkholders, console storage, analogue instrumentation (speedo, tacho, fuel) and a grippy textured-deck surface.
The Trophy 1703 Centre Console is available through a 16-dealer network via Berowra Waters Wholesale. It comes as a full package including 115hp Mercury Optimax outboard; galvanised, disc-braked trailer; bimini top; cushion package; coaming pads; and much more. The price is $44,490.
