Cash Injection For WA Boaties
In a statement issued at the end of June, Western Australia’s Transport Minister, Simon O’Brien, said the state’s recreational fishers are set to benefit from a $1.87m injection of funds to be directed towards 22 different boat facility locations.
The fresh round of grants provided by the WA State Government’s Recreational Boating Facilities Scheme (RBFS) follows on from the announcement the scheme will be bolstered by at least $25m over the next four years. The RBFS is managed by the Department of Transport and provides funding for new or improved facilities for recreational boat users.
According to the statement, four projects in Perth’s metropolitan area have been earmarked for more than $877,000 in funding, including $400,000 to replace and widen the access road at Woodman Point.
According to O’Brien, the state’s southwest topped the list in non-metro areas. “The southwest received the biggest allocation of the regional areas with more than $180,000 in grants, including $114,100 for improvements to the parking and launching ramp access at Gnarabup in the Shire of Augusta-Margaret River,” he said.
