Cruise Craft releases 485 Explorer

CRUISE CRAFT RELEASES 485 EXPLORER

The Cruise Craft Explorer range of family fishing boats has been expanded with the release of the new Explorer 485 model.

Measuring 4.95m long (including bowsprit), the Explorer 485 features a cuddy-cab with open vee storage bins, big forward walkthrough deck-hatch, and expansive cockpit.

The boat is rated to carry four adults with a maximum power rating of 90hp, in either two-stroke or four-stroke configuration. The recommended power is 70hp. The Explorer 485 is packaged with a single axle galvanised trailer, and with a kerbside weight of around 1100kg, the boat is easy to tow, back and store.

Inside the boat there is plush upholstery, including padded coamings, a walkthrough transom door, and a big walkthrough deck-hatch that provides excellent access to the bowsprit and anchor.

At the helm there is ample dash space for engine instrumentation as well as marine electronics. The helm and passenger seats are fitted to elevated pedestals, while additional seating is provided across the rear of the cockpit with an optional full width fold-down rear bench seat.

Peter Benston, national sales & marketing manager at Cruise Craft, said the 485 was a boat that would introduce families to the Cruise Craft brand.

“When we reviewed our product line-up we felt there was a glaring omission and that was with the entry level family fishing boat,” he said.

“Our product line-up of Outsiders, Explorers, Resorts and Executive boat is very comprehensive, but we felt that the Cruise Craft brand was lacking a model to offer the first time boaters.

“Our dealers were telling us that new boaters were very comfortable with the Cruise Craft brand, but felt that we didn’t have a boat small enough to suit their level of skill and confidence.

“The Explorer 485 is the answer. We believe that once new boaters, or those moving up from a dinghy, experience the Cruise Craft brand through the Explorer 485, they will go on and further their boating with the bigger Cruise Craft models,” he added.

The hull is foam filled for integral strength, buoyancy and quietness. And like all models in the Cruise Craft range, the Explorer 485 is fully backed by a seven-year structural guarantee on the hull.

A fully rigged BMT package ready for the water comes with a recommended retail price of around $30,000.
