MERCURY ANNOUNCES NEW OPTIMAX 150 PROXS
Mercury said it is proud to announce its new OptiMax 150 ProXS outboard, a direct-injected 2.5lt V6 design weighing just 195kg.
“Just like the rest of the ProXS range, the new 150 delivers on the OptiMax promise of higher top speed, increased acceleration and enhanced boat performance,” said Mercury. “It’s also been given a VELS 3-STAR rating for ultra-low emissions. In testing, the 150 ProXS more than lives up to its name.”
Mercury said the ProXS is almost 8kmh faster at top speed, “compared to the competitors’ high output 150 engines.” The company also said it delivers an additional 4kmh at top speed compared to the standard 150 OptiMax
However, according to Mercury, the added performance does not burn more fuel. “The 150 ProXS boasts better fuel economy than the competition throughout the power band — but especially at cruise speed — which means more time on the water,” said Mercury.
The company said the 150 ProXS is an outstanding choice for boaties looking to re-power and move up from their current 150 / 170hp carburettor or EFI engine. “Not only will the OptiMax 150 ProXS deliver massively improved performance, its mechanical throttle and shift controls means the cost of re-powering is kept down,” said Mercury.
The engine is available in 20in (L) and 25in (XL) shaft lengths. Engines used for recreational purposes (non racing) are covered by Mercury’s “3+2=5 Year Warranty.” All engines are also protected by a three-year corrosion warranty.
