FISHER BOATS IS BACK ON TRACK
Queensland plate-boatbuilder Fisher Boats said it is entering the new decade with new management, a new owner, and new premises.
The boat manufacturer, which makes a range of highly customisable premium plate-boats, underwent a change of hands in late 2008, when the struggling business was taken over by Michael “Mick” Sanderson.
Fisher Boats said Sanderson moved the business to new premises, honoured existing Fisher customer orders, and re-employed experienced Fisher staff.
New management was then brought onboard, after the first half of 2009 was spent consolidating the business.
Barry Powell was recruited for the role of administration and accounts manager, while mining and hardware man Paul Guidotti became general manager. Colin Wenzel took up the role of sales and marketing manager, bringing with him years of marine retail experience, including a long stint at Stingray Boats.
John Hamlin also came on board as factory foreman, bringing with him many years of experience on factory floors at Queensland plate-alloy boatbuilders.
Fisher Boats said these changes mean the company remains a leading premium plate-aluminium trailerboat manufacturer in the Australia and Oceania region.
