New direction for Melbourne International Boat and Lifestyle Festival

NEW DIRECTION FOR MELBOURNE INTERNATIONAL BOAT AND LIFESTYLE FESTIVAL

The organisers of the Melbourne International Boat and Lifestyle Festival said the event is back in 2010 with a new name and a new direction.

Scheduled to run from February 5 – 7, at Melbourne’s NewQuay Marina, and along the Promenade from NewQuay to Waterfront City at Docklands, the event has been described by the organisers as “a fresh mix of boats and boating gear, plus all the good things of life.”

The Festival is said to feature more than just large luxury boats, with trailerable boats, PWCs, chandlery items and accessories to be displayed on the Promenade. Entertainment activities like food-tasting, live bands, and an outdoor bar have also been promised.

The Festival will offer plenty of opportunities to sample the delights of boating, with kids sailing clinics, kayaking and fishing clinics. Other activities include free powerboat rides, presented by JV Marine World and skippered by expert crews from the Australian Volunteer Coast Guard Association.

Many components of the show are free, and the public may access open space exhibits and marquees free of charge.

Access to the boats on the marina is ticketed. Tickets can be purchased from the ticket box located at the marina entry at NewQuay. Tickets purchases are “cash only” from the ticket boxes, and ATMs are located in and around the NewQuay area.

Tickets are $15 for adults; $8 for children under 16 and pensioner / concession card holders; $35 for families (two adults and up to three children). Children under five may attend for free.

The Melbourne International Boat and Lifestyle Festival is open from 10:00am – 8:00pm on Friday, February 5; and from 10:00am – 6:00pm on Saturday, February 6, and Sunday, February 7.
