“One-off” Bar Crusher turns heads

"One-off" Bar Crusher turns heads

The Bar Crusher 560XS Tournament is a one off tournament level barra fishing model developed in conjunction with Navico Australia’s Dave Silva.

The model is based on a heavy-duty plate-aluminium 6.10m (LOA) 560 hull, using a Waveslicer™ non-pounding, deep-V hull made to handle the messy conditions often encountered along the Top End’s river systems and open coastline.

The layout is a standard 560XS Reef Sport, but with the console moved to the starboard side and the portside pocket converted into a sizable rod-locker for holding tackle. The hull is further strengthened with a Rigideck™ sub-floor system, while additional stability comes in the form of Bar Crusher’s Quickflow™ water-ballast technology.

A notable feature is a huge forward carpeted casting platform (with a “cavernous storage area below” according to Bar Crusher) that is covered with 10mm-thick high-density foam. This cushioned casting surface is intended to reduce fatigue during long days on the water.

Immediately below the forward casting deck is a carpeted step, which unlocks to reveal a plumbed fishwell that can hold a metre-plus barra.

Additional casting space is further aft, with a large, carpeted box providing a decent casting area. This rear casting platform has three seat spigots, which allows three anglers to sit in comfort.

The Bar Crusher 560XS Tournament has an upgraded 150hp power rating and carries a 200lt fuel tank. On this design the standard in-floor fuel filler has been moved from the centre of the deck to near the side-console, so as to allow the boat to be easily fuelled-up even when fully loaded.

For onboard electronics, Dave mounted a Lowrance HDS-10 on the console. Another HDS-10 unit is RAM-mounted in the portside rear corner, while a single HDS-7 is RAM-mounted at the bow near the 24V Minn Kota electric outboard.

Lowrance StructureScan™ has been incorporated into the system, and all units are networked through one transducer. GPS, sonar and engine information can be viewed on any of the displays located around the boat.

Bar Crusher said it may consider adding this “one-off” 560XS Tournament into its range, depending on demand.
