2009 Evinrude BRP Hawkesbury 120 Ski Race Classic

This weekend several thousand people will descend onto Governor Phillip Park, in Windsor, NSW, as they attend the longest ski race in Australia, the 2009 Evinrude BRP Hawkesbury 120 Ski Race Classic.

More than 150 teams from all over Australia are scheduled to attend one of the toughest endurance races in the world that sees boats carrying as much as 1700hp speeding down the Hawkesbuy River at speeds that can exceed 104kts (193kmh).

Highlights include recently crowned Waterski World Champion Wayne Mawer and under 16 Champion Jack Houston, both of whom are competing on the back of their triumphant return from the World Championships in Belgium. Intense rivalries between some of the best teams in Australia are also expected.

Two new additions to this year’s event are the time trials and the open practice sessions, to be held on Saturday. These open sessions allow teams to race from Sackville to Windsor with full safety measures and course boats in place, without encountering dangerous oncoming craft.

The 2009 Evinrude BRP Hawkesbury 120 Classic runs from August 29-30 at Governor Phillip Park, in Windsor, NSW. Family tickets are $20 per day or $30 for the weekend; adults pay $10 per day or $15 for the weekend; children aged 10-16 are $5 per day; and children under 10 can attend for free.
