New Mercury Verado 350
Mercury Outboard’s all-new Verado 350 SCi has hit Australian shores, first on display at this year’s Boat Shows starting with the Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show.
According to Mercury, this superb in-line six-cylinder outboard has been built to provide speed-lovers with more power and better performance than any comparable engine – and it does just that.
The thrilling Verado 350 SCi is now available in Australia and New Zealand with a limited two-year warranty. The 25” and 30” versions are on sale through all Mercury Outboard dealers, with the 20" model available from authorised Mercury Racing Dealers only.
“We’ve had a lot of interest in this engine because of the rave reviews it’s received,” said Ken Evans, Director of Outboards.
“It’s a high-performance engine that’s got it all, so you can be sure it’s going to be one of the stand out items at Sanctuary Cove.”
Combining the brains of Verado with the brawn of Mercury Racing, the new Verado 350 SCi exceeds expectations in product quality, reliability and performance.
The engine’s 2.6-litre supercharged engine features electronically controlled sequential multi-port fuel injection, four valves per cylinder, double overhead cam design, a charge-air cooler and electronic boost bypass control.
The new top cowl design, with fresh air intakes on the top and front, helps maintain consistent engine operating temperatures by circulating cool air around the powerhead and associated components. The cowl design also channels fresh air directly to the supercharger thereby improving power and performance.
The Verado 350 SCi is super-reliable, with the strength, toughness and durability recreational boaters and offshore sport anglers demand.
An all-new sand-cast driveshaft housing has been created for enhanced durability. Stainless steel guide plates with fibre wear pads and high-performance engine mounts enhance engine stability at high speeds.
A brand new, hydrodynamic gearcase has also been added to handle the engine’s high torque and power output.
And there’s no need to worry about noise. Patented sound-dampening technology means this high performance outboard is remarkably quiet.
The Verado 350 SCi also comes with SmartStart - all you have to do is turn the key and release, and the engine will start automatically.
Electro-hydraulic power steering and SmartCraft Digital Throttle & Shift (DTS) provide for an exceptionally smooth and responsive driving experience combined with sports car-like handling and performance.

The power and grunt of a V8…
Mercury says ‘The big end of the MerCruiser Tow Sport range has just gotten bigger, with the release of the new 6.2L Scorpion 377 HO which is rated at a very impressive 380 horsepower.
That’s a whopping 40hp more than the previous 377 model provided.
“It’s truly impressive. This new Scorpion 377 produces incredible top-end power and great torque while being ultra-green as well,” said David Meehan, Director – MerCruiser Australia, New Zealand, Pacific.
“This is an engine which has been purpose-built for big tow sport boats. They’re hungry for more power and excellent performance, so that’s exactly what we have delivered.
“Any way you look at it, this is the ‘Rolls Royce’ of the category,” he said.
As you’d expect the new Scorpion 377 includes all the bells and whistles.
It comes with a fully integrated digital throttle and shift (DTS) as standard, incorporating a ZF 63C electronic shift transmission which is Walter adaptable for V-Drive.
Its Engine Guardian® system automatically monitors oil pressure, coolant temperature, transmission temperature, engine over-rev, cooling water pressure, low voltage and engine spark knock and reacts instantly to any problem to avoid any damage.
Because the new Scorpion 377 is built with tow sports in mind, the engine is fully compatible with Mercury’s exclusive Smart Tow technology which combines two high-tech features in one easy-to-use system.
Its optional Launch Control feature lets drivers select the ideal Tow Profile for the person being pulled out of the water. The acceleration and RPM overshoot are smooth, consistent and automatic.
Then, when the acceleration’s over, the Cruise Control delivers consistent speed on the water with no ‘hunting’. Smart Tow Pro can also be programmed for a particular speed thanks to the inclusion of advanced GPS technology.
Green machine
Impressivly, the new Scorpion 377 delivers all this power and performance while maintaining its green credentials, as its catalytic converter controls three gases – hydrocarbons, nitrous oxide and carbon monoxide.
The new PCM 09 control module constantly monitors and adjusts fuel flow to maximize engine performance while maintaining emission standards.
Engine changes
The engine’s massive output of 380 hp is possible thanks to some significant construction changes, including an all-cast iron exhaust system, premium unleaded rating, a high performance camshaft, needle bearing roller rocker arm, large port bowtie cylinder heads and a modified tunnel ram intake manifold.
The new Scorpion 377 comes with a three-year MerCruiser warranty which can be easily upgraded to six years.
