Despite deferring the Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show opening till Friday May 22 due to unseasonal storms, there was long bursts of sunshine and the show was full of new boats and innovations, like Sea-Doo models with suspension and brakes! Is big ever enough? Mercury has brute power in the form of a massive 6.2 litre 380hp Scorpion 377 HO – they label ‘the Rolls Royce’ of tow sport engines. Also their new Verado 350SCi – 2.6 litre supercharged engine and their new OptiMax 125hp outboard.

This year 409 exhibitors displayed at the Sanctuary Cove Boat Show, with more than 100 marine product launches. According to the organisers, ‘It is the fourth highest exhibitor tally on record, an astounding feat in the current uncertain economic climate.
International buyers and delegations from countries such as India, Taiwan, China, United Arab Emirates and the Philippines visited the Show’.
It’s not only trailerboats - there are some spectacular luxury vessels at the Show including the Australian debut of the Sunseeker 34m valued at $A23 million.
