In keeping with their dedication to state of the art technology Absolute specifically integrates and builds the 45 Fly with the benefits of twin Volvo IPS 600 propulsion. Absolute’s ‘Integrated Structural System’ bonds the internal bulkheads, sandwich walls and floor of the interior to a hand-laid hull, forming a rigid and robust entity that provides strong and seaworthy construction with improved sound insulation and reduced vibration.

She is truly a heart stopper with the outward appeal of an alluring temptress, at the same time being an elegant entertainer and a comfortable cruiser with multiple party zones and welcoming accommodation. Whether cruising the harbour, anchored in a sedate cove or simply moored in your favoured marina the 45 Fly offers sporty and luxurious platform to enhance your marine lifestyle.

The extended flybridge (Bridge Deck) is just the platform for an evening ensemble, or maybe get the wind in your hair in a sporty sprint to blow away life’s cobwebs. Dual station controls bring the helmsman to the party with enormous upholstered chez lounges for the sun worshippers, plus a huge dinette with teak table for elevated relaxation, all aided by the wet bar and grill. The upper deck is easily accessed with a stainless steel stairwell finished with teak treads.

Back downstairs the teak lined cockpit features a unique convertible rear lounge/sun lounge, a cozy and shaded nook for the quiet times with a good book or a quiet breakfast. Out back the full width transom platform provides the launching pad for family water sports, perhaps the boarding ramp for a tender, or a mooring point for when friends drop in.

Huge windows and café style, mirror finish sliding saloon doors combined with massive windscreen and side windows (some electric) give the Absolute a free and open feel that’s simply flooded with natural light. There’s terrific flow from the cockpit into the rear galley and internal saloon presenting a truly livable feel that can be secluded and intimate or expansive and flowing, depending on our mood and climate. The inclusive rear galley makes it the hub of the upper and lower decks. Of course it wouldn’t be Italian without marble laminate finishes hi-lighting the plush beige leather upholstery and timber trims that reveal true craftsmanship.

The long convertible settee to the port side and massive U-shaped dinette form the perfect setting for a more formal dinner party, but are also warm and inviting for day to day living. Amongst a plethora of internal features the front cabinet houses a large retractable television completing the on-board sound and entertainment system.

The helm is a driver’s delight with the sports feel of a Maserati. The dash and helmsman seat are trimmed in offset black leather with a beautiful convertible bolster seat featuring a unique cantilevered mechanism. It is a compact helm but still allows a large multi-function screen plus twin binnacle controls. There’s an IPS joystick supplying the ultimate in precise docking and maneuverability, as well as fuel economy, handling and performance.

Downstairs is a full beam master stateroom amidships, with private toilet and separate shower, a huge double cabin in the bow, with private bathroom, separate shower and plenty of closet space. Together with the a fully equipped kids/crew cabin at the stern providing plenty of premium accommodation for the family and/or friends.

A REAL PERFORMER

Absolute have designed the boat from the keel up with the incorporation of the gutsy and economical Volvo D6-IPS600 (2×320 Kw - 2×435 HP) in-line 6-cylinder D6, a 5.5-liter, common-rail diesel with turbo and supercharger for incredible low-rpm response. Working together with a perfectly matched IPS1 pod, twin counter-rotating propellers and the

Electronic Vessel Control system, this package offers excellent maneuverability, long action range and low emissions. The IPS pods provide superior slow-speed maneuverability and excellent high-speed handling. Docking is easy and safe, even in confined spaces. The outstanding maneuverability combined with joystick control also leads to efficient driver response and high safety.

With a cruising speed specified as 26 knots this thrifty combination uses only 77 lph allowing an excellent range from the 1300 litre tanks. This combination certainly takes the 45 Fly into the realm of an efficient coastal cruiser.

THE WRAP!

Victorian based Melbourne Boat Sales are the regional dealer for the range of Absolute Motor Yachts. They currently have a 2014 model 45 Fly available for sale at a very reasonable $749K. From all accounts she’s a plumb boat in beautiful condition and is very well appointed with a host of accessories, as well as a strong service and maintenance record. On current pricing, a new replacement would be in the region of $1.1M plus options (realistic $1.2 - $1.3M), hence a 30% reduction for a well presented and maintained package is most suitable and affordable.
