MAZU 52HT

New Boat: Mazu 52HT

Construction is still underway as we go to press, but Turkish boatbuilder Mazu Yachts remains confident of launching its new 52ft hardtop model at September’s Cannes Yachting Festival in France.

Mazu presented a pair of luxury overnight cruisers to the yachting world at last year’s Cannes show, showing off its 38 Open and 42 Walkaround models.

This time around, the bar has been raised further with the unveiling of a carbon composite 52-footer that can hit speeds approaching 40kts.

Mazu CEO and lead designer Halit Yukay said the idea behind the new hardtop model was to develop a 52-footer with the space, performance, and interior comfort and finish of a much bigger boat.

“Combined with her carbon construction and low centre of gravity for optimal stability and seakeeping, we believe this new addition to the Mazu fleet represents excellent value in terms of quality and price,” he said.

The 52HT is engineered from carbon composite in a lightweight sandwich construction for rigidity and strength.Bold, angular lines and broad shoulders of the sheer line announce the Mazu 52HT as a very modern dayboat and her top-end construction, married with a striking profile will be sure to find fans among European boaters.

While offering ample comfort for extended overnight cruising belowdecks, it’s the aft deck and social space under the open-sided carbon hardtop that looks most likely to appeal to those Mediterranean leagues of sun-worshippers.

A pair of lounges nestle under cover opposite paired dining tables for relaxing out of the elements just behind the helm, but further aft, a huge sun lounge beckons at water-level.
In the lazarette beneath, there’s room for a compact jet tender and up forward, lush accommodation for a couple and guests in two cabins.

The interior layout provides for one guest cabin and a larger master suite, each with separate bathroom facilities and backing onto a spacious dinette/lounge area. Luxuriously soft Italian leathers appear throughout the interior and the work surfaces feature Bianca marble veneers atop a lightweight aluminium substrate.

Powered by twin Volvo IPS 800 engines (600hp each), the 52HT will have a top speed of 36knots and a cruising speed of 32kts.

“The major construction work is complete and the interiors are well advanced,” said Yukay.

“We are just awaiting delivery of the Opacmare Transformer aft platform, after which we will start the engine installation and the painting process.”
