NEW RAYMARINE GS SERIES MFD ELECTRONICS

Raymarine’s new gS Series MFD range goes public next month as it also unveils its new glass bridge navigation system. With edge-to-edge glass construction and slim-line bezels, the new screens can be flush-mounted into the dash.

Available in 9, 12 or 15.4in screen sizes, the gS Series is also a fully self-contained multifunction navigation suite. From a single-display touchscreen system the gS Series can be expanded into a multi-station combination with remote keyboard control or networked together with the full family of a, c and e Series MFDs.

“With a new fast dual-core processor plus a third dedicated graphics processor, the gS Series delivers super-fast and responsive performance and gigabit networking,” says Raymarine.

The company’s thermal night-vision and IP cameras, ClearPulse CHIRP sonar, 256-colour radar, and music via FUSIONLink can all be accessed through gS Series, while NMEA2000 networking is through SeaTalk cabling.

Fluid touchscreen interaction and pinch-to-zoom chart controls the display, and unique LCD technology eliminates the “blackout effect” caused by polarised sunglasses.

The gS Series can also be controlled remotely, options including a keypad to give full control of single or multiple displays; the keypad can be used in portrait or landscape orientation and is fully waterproof to IPX6 and IPX7 standards.

With inbuilt Wi-Fi skippers can use RayRemote and/or RayControl apps to control the gS Series from a smartphone or tablet for pulling up charts, operating radar and sonar, selecting menus, setting waypoints, and controlling settings and systems. Each gS display features an HDMI video output for connection to LCD TVs and monitors. The remote keyboard or Raymarine wireless apps give full control of the gS Series from any onboard HDTV, monitor or display.

The gS Series chart engine supports Navionics Platinum Plus, offering 3D chart images and aerial photo chart overlays. The screens are supplied with waterproof remote dual-microSD memory card readers for Navionics charts, software updates and data backup. Cartography can be shared across networked displays from a single card reader.
