NEW PRODUCTS - Lowrance Elite-5 series
Available in early 2011, the new Lowrance Elite DownScan Imaging (DSI) sonar series — comprising the Elite-5x DSI fishfinder and the Elite-5 DSI fishfinder/chartplotter — provides photo-like underwater images on a 5in, 256-colour, high-resolution display.
According to Lowrance, the two units represent a new standard in fishfinding, providing remarkable views of bottom structure like rocks, vegetation and drop-offs, as well as bait fish and target fish. The Elite DSI series is suitable for use in both freshwater and saltwater to depths of over 60m.
The models come with a low-profile, transom-mounted Skimmer transducer. They operate at 455kHz for wider, deeper coverage, or 800kHz for concentrated scans at shallower depths. Lowrance’s TrackBack features allow anglers to scroll back through their sonar history, while the combo model also has a 16-channel unit-mounted GPS antenna, along with an external antenna option.
