NEW PRODUCTS - VDO'S NEW VIEWLINE BOAT GAUGES
VDO’s new range of pleasureboat instruments under the Viewline name are said to offer a comprehensive modular series of modern, stylish engine monitoring and navigation instruments for 12 and 24V applications.
The manufacturer claims the new range offers more functions plus greater flexibility in installation and design with a modular bezel concept including three variants in black, white or chrome to perfectly complement any boat interior.
Bezels are available in flat, round or triangular versions, but it is also possible to mount the instruments without bezels to provide a flush installation, maximising the customisation options available.
Protected against extreme conditions, the front of each Viewline instrument is hermetically sealed in compliance with IP67 and fitted with anti-fog double lenses in shock-resistant plastic, while the casing is corrosion free. VDO said the domed lenses ensure that any water flows off quickly, avoiding distracting reflections on the display.
“At night the attractive appearance of the instruments is further enhanced as the dials and pointers are designed with full backlight technology, producing the optimum in contrast with superb display readability,” said the company in a press release. “Critical operating conditions can be quickly and safely detected at night as each instrument is also fitted with high-visibility LED warning and indicator lights.”
As well as analogue readings of speed or engine revs, VDO said tachometers have an additional digital display via external control buttons, and a number of options are available for signal inputs.
Complementing the tried and tested standard solutions, the Viewline range also includes the option of multifunction instruments. Clear reading and multifunctional, VDO said the new Viewline 110mm and 85mm instruments readily combine with the reliable engine monitoring 52mm gauges for easy customisation or retrofitting into existing panels.
The new VDO Viewline instruments are available from leading marine and ships chandleries.
