2014 SCIBS: Leigh-Smith Cruisers
Most serious boaters on the Gold Coast would be familiar with the name Leigh-Smith. After all, the company has been in the boat game for 50 years, having opened its doors on the Gold Coast back in 1964.
A three-generation company, Leigh-Smith was at Sanctuary Cove two decades ago. In fact, Dean Leigh-Smith says his father was one of the major exhibitors at the very first Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show.
“For Sanctuary Cove boat show number 26, Ryan [brother] and I joined forces and we’re relocating the full retail division down here, concentrating on our Alaska range of yachts,” he says. For this show, there were several new 47s already on order along with a new 49 in stock for the show. A new 72 Endurance, sold earlier in the year, was being showcased, as was the latest 59 Alaska.
