Built in 1990, Lara’s Theme has enjoyed the easy life of a 97-foot luxury superyacht — day cruises, cocktail parties, tropical seas — and all the while doted upon with plenty of TLC.

In 2007, the stunning raised pilothouse motoryacht underwent an extensive refit including complete new paint, new non-skid decks, new carpet, window treatments, upholstery, headliner, furniture and wall coverings, new hardtop with lights and EZ2CY enclosure, upgraded electronics and electrics, new 5m Apex tender with 115hp Suzuki outboard and an integrated hot tub concealed in the swimplatform.

Currently Lara’s Theme is undergoing another improvement — a complete conversion from 110V to 240V, with new electrical equipment fitted as required.

NORTH AMERICA’S BEST
A beautiful 30m raised pilothouse superyacht, Lara’s Theme was designed by the world-famous, Washington-based Jack Sarin Naval Architects, and built to the highest standards by Cooper Queenship Yachts of Canada. She features a Westport hull, considered among the best in America.

With a 7.2m beam there’s a tremendous amount of both interior and exterior space. Her layout features four staterooms with private baths, accommodating up to nine guests. A newly remodelled crew quarters offers six berths in three cabins, while for owners and guests there’s formal dining in the full-width saloon along with a spacious country kitchen-style galley and an aft deck. The skipper has two helm stations, one of course in the raised pilothouse and another up top in the fully equipped flybridge, which is spacious and ideal for outdoor entertaining.

The main saloon consists of a formal dining area with seating for eight, a bar with four stools, wine cooler, refrigerator, icemaker and sink, a game table and an entertainment system featuring an LG 94cm LCD TV. There is also a large U-shaped sofa, coffee table and two occasional chairs. The saloon is complemented by large picture windows offering outstanding views and abundant lighting.

Located forward on the main deck is the galley featuring informal dining, spacious cooking areas and access to the crew quarters below. Galley equipment includes Sub-Zero refrigerator-freezer, two convection ovens, Sharp microwave/convection oven, Miele induction cooktop, Miele dishwasher, double sink with garbage disposal, Corian countertops and a large pantry area.

SHIP SYSTEMS
The raised pilothouse features a chart table with navigation and weather-fax equipment, main controls and electronics and wing station.

The electronics are extensive with Furuno 48nm radar, Raymarine E140 digital radar/plotters, Simrad AP35 autopilot (two-station), Furuno 108 weather-fax, Raymarine depthsounder and speed log, Icom VHF M120, Sea 235 SSB, autopilot jog control at helm seat, master alarm panel, and master fire alarm, hailer and Halon fire control system.

Controls include bowthruster, Naiad Datum digital stabilisers, searchlight, Simrad rudder angle, hydraulic selector (davit/thruster/windlass), and for the Matrix watermaker that provides 5650lt per day. There is also a comfortable bench seat and table where guests can chat with the captain and enjoy superb views of the voyage ahead.

FLYING HIGH
The flybridge houses three sets of Mathers engine controls for stern-to docking, while portside aft is the cradled Apex RIB tender. Next to it on the centreline is a Nautical Structures crane with extension boom for launching the tender. Moving ahead and to starboard is a new granite countertop with barbecue grill, fridge and sink, the radar arch running the width of the flybridge, and further forward L- shaped seats, port and starboard.

As mentioned, the flybridge has three sets of Mathers engine controls, one central and one each at the port and starboard wings, where there are also controls for the bowthruster, jog steering and searchlight, as well Simrad AP-50 autopilot and rudder angle indicator. The top deck helm also features controls for the stabilisers, an engine gauge bank and electronics including Raymarine E140 digital radar/plotters, Magnetic Ritchie 6in compass, Icom VHF M-125, Horizon hailer LSH, Raymarine depthsounder and speed log, and EPIRB with GPS interface.

Above the controls, seating and table is a fibreglass hardtop with three-sided EZ2CY glass enclosure.

Heading back down to the main deck, the cockpit is accessed through double saloon doors and features a lounging pad, spiral staircase to the flybridge and stairs leading below to the swimplatform, with integrated hot tub, access to the engineroom and a large hatch concealing sink, disposal and storage.
