Boat of the Month EXTRA - Bayliner Avanti 42ft Sportscruiser
Launched in 1989, Black Label
According to Maurice Drent Boating Services South Australia, Black Label is in very good condition and used as a leisure-only boat. There’s a low 1200 hours on the twin 375hp Caterpillar 3208 V8 diesels, which are coupled to two-inch shaftdrives. Consumption at cruising speed is said to be around 70lt/h.
In 2000, the interior was replaced with modern upholstery and fabrics said to be in very good condition, while in 2008 a new hardtop was fitted. New clears were also added back then and completely seal the helm and large cockpit from the weather. Last November, Black Label was serviced, including the cooling system and anti-fouling.
Best features of Bayliner are her large interior volume and two double-cabin layout. Both cabins have their own en suites with electric toilets, and provide privacy and comfortable accommodation for four adults.
INTERIOR BITS
The galley has a large fridge, three-burner stove and microwave. At the helm, you’ll find hydraulic steering and electronics including Lowrance GPS-plotter, autopilot, sounder, VHF marine radio, and controls for the Muir anchor winch. For entertainment there are three TVs and a CD player, with power away from the marina supplied by a 12kVa 240V Onan genset and 200W inverter.
Outside there’s a new hardtop and clears for the large cockpit, plus a cockpit shower and a 2.6m dinghy with 2.5hp outboard.
