BOAT OF THE MONTH EXTRA - MARITIMO 470 OFFSHORE CONVERTIBLE
A rare opportunity exists to purchase a second-hand model of the popular Maritimo 470 Offshore Convertible from the boatbuilder, at Maritimo Gold Coast - the boat is still in first year of production since being first released in May last year.
The as-new 2010 model is waiting and ready to go cruising or bluewater fishing and boast only 15 engine hours on the clock. She will appeal to those people who love both cruising and the thrill of big-game fishing.
For angling pursuits, this Maritimo 470 Offshore Convertible features a three-sided enclosed flybridge with an aft helm and a large fishing-friendly cockpit fitted with an optional livebait well in the transom and bait-prep station over a coolbox forward, as well as a sink with mixer tap.
There’s also a reinforced plate under the cockpit floor for the installation of a game chair. The wide coaming overlaps into the cockpit making for comfortable stand-up fishing and the inclusion of rodholders. The former owner also added a cockpit awning and side covers to completely seal off this area.
WINDOW UP
For entertaining connectivity, there’s the excellent optional cockpit hopper window above the saloon’s starboard aft quarter leather L-shaped lounge and fold-out table. The fully-equipped galley (with microwave, Vitrifrigo fridge-freezer and Fisher & Paykel four-burner stove) is forward to port and adjacent a second, large L-shaped lounge with wooden table.
The saloon’s internal portside staircase heads to the flybridge, where an L-shaped lounge, around a solid table, comfortably seats five forward of the helm. The bridge is open at the rear, with mid rails and clears providing protection in difficult weather conditions or when air-conditioning is required. This Maritimo 470 Offshore Convertible has the optional sunroof fitted for fresh air and extra natural light.
Forward of the saloon, the accommodation space includes three cabins: a master stateroom to port with a queen double bed and en suite; a guest stateroom forward; and, bunk-cabin amidships on the starboard side. The forward and starboard cabins share the second bathroom. Maritimo Gold Coast pointed out, the boat also boasts an excellent soft-furnishings package throughout.
Some of the options on the Maritimo 470 Offshore Convertible include Cummins diesels with a three-year extended Cummins warranty, black Corian bench tops, Puccini sandstone leather, bow and stern thrusters with remote, two Raymarine E120 widescreens, Simrad autopilot and VHF, Raymarine depth repeater, Fusion stereo system throughout, 40in LCD flatscreen TV in the saloon and 19in TVs in two cabins, 2.9m Swift Reef with new 5hp Tohatsu outboard, and teak cockpit deck and swimplatform.
The shaft-driven Maritimo 470 Offshore Convertible is powered by two 600hp Cummins QSC 8.3 diesels through Maritimo’s own five-blade props. Builder Bill Barry-Cotter’s boats are renowned as fuel-efficient, long-range performers and our test early last year of the Maritimo 470 Offshore Convertible (see issue 402 or read it online at www.tradeaboat.com.au) confirmed the new model as such. With 3000lt fuel onboard, the capacity is there for serious time aboard. There’s also 400lt of freshwater and the setup for a future watermaker. Electrics are 24V and power the Muir anchor winch (with 30kg stainless steel anchor), while an 11kW Onan generator caters for offshore electricity demands.
