Boat of the Month EXTRA - Maritimo
If you get that racy feeling sitting at the helm of the 2008 Maritimo 500 Offshore Convertible
You see this “near new” 500OC was first owned by Ingell before he moved on and sold her to the current owners, also now wishing to move on to one of Maritimo’s new Mustang 3100 sportsboats that will be hitting the water early in the New Year.
JOYSTICK JOY
As well as the unique skipper’s seat is joystick control alongside twin 12in Garmin screens. This Maritimo 500 is quite unique in that respect, being the first of the model range to be fitted with ZF Marine’s Joystick Maneuvering System or JMS, developed to provide simple and intuitive boat control for shaft-driven boats.
JMS is interfaced with the ZF SmartCommand system, which controls engines in a twin-engine vessel with traditional drive-shafts to provide the same ease of control as expected from azimuth pod drives. SmartCommand integrates the latest in CAN-bus technology in a user-friendly control head where all functions are selected using soft-touch pushbuttons. Included in the 500OC is a ZF remote control for engines, throttles and thruster.
There are a number of other notable additions to this 500OC, including a Steelhead SM 1000R (455kg lift) hydraulic davit, Muir chain counter, teak cockpit sole, electric cockpit barbecue, twin flybridge mounted spotlights to the cockpit, washer/dryer combo in the engineroom, soft furnishing package, extra sidedeck cleats, a three-quarter Euro awning fitted to the cockpit, and an 3.65m Aquapro Euro 1198 centre console with 30hp Yamaha.
UPGRADED ACCOMMODATION
The accommodation consists of three cabins and two bathrooms with Tecma loos, in an upgraded layout to that of the 550 model. There is air-conditioning throughout and entertainment is by way of Intellian Sat TV through a Samsung 46in digital TV with Blu Ray DVD and a Fusion CD/radio with iPod dock and four speakers to flybridge and second cockpit zone.
Drinks fridges will be found in the saloon and in the flybridge and powering all the electricals offshore or on the anchor is a 17kVa Caterpillar genset with 2kW inverter. The genset is a necessary item as the 500OC has the scope to range far and wide, with 3500lt fuel for the two 715hp Caterpillar diesels (155 hours each).
As in traditional Maritimo style, the aft saloon galley is quick to serve the cockpit, and for the cook are a Miele drawer-dishwasher, convection microwave, fridge and freezer, filtered drinking water from an onboard 800lt, and four-burner electric cooktop.
