The world awaits a Nordhavn and lying in the Whitsundays awaiting a new adventurous owner is the 2004 model Nordhavn 57 Cobalt Blue

Launched in 2004, Cobalt Blue, a Jeff Leishman design, is said to have received regular maintenance throughout her short life and has a claimed non-stop cruising range of more than 3000nm. Accommodation suits a family or two couples plus crew and she's loaded with cruising equipment.

This Nordhavn 57 features an asymmetrical layout with apparently no expense spared in her construction and outfitting. Propulsion power is supplied by a single 340hp John Deere 6125 diesel fed by fuel tanks holding 7570lt, and supported by an auxiliary 85hp John Deere 4045 engine driving an emergency shaft and folding prop. Water supply is 1135lt, supplemented by a watermaker.

Saloon entry is from the cockpit where there's L-shaped leather seating for eight to port around a high-gloss wooden table, a sound system, teak woodwork, and carpeted teak and holly flooring. Opposite is a 42in plasma TV in a hi-low cabinet, and ahead is a well equipped open galley open with granite countertop and two upholstered bar stools, two fridges, a freezer, gas cooktop and oven, dishwasher, drawer storage and cabinets, double stainless steel sink and an icemaker.

The galley also has a portside door to the sidedeck and there’s two spare freezers and a fridge located in the lazarette. Access to the engineroom is via the galley, through a starboard side entrance foyer with stairs leading down.

Forward of the galley and up three stairs is the pilothouse with guest seating, two helm seats and stairs up to the flybridge, or down to the accommodation. Heading down, you arrive at the master stateroom with private head and shower stall, queen-size berth, two end tables, locker and drawers, Sharp LCD TV, port lights, mirror, and a front-loading washer and separate dryer.

There’s a VIP stateroom forward boasting an island double berth and a shared dayhead, including a shower stall, with the guest stateroom featuring upper and lower bunks.

Smoothing out the ride on Cobalt Blue are Trac hydraulic stabilisers, while forward and aft hydraulic thrusters make for easy manoeuvring. Electronics include a 20kW Northern Lights generator, two 2500W Trace inverters, two Furuno NavNet chartplotters, Furuno sat-compass, two Simrad autopilots, Icom VHF and HF radios, and Satellite KVH Trac Vision G6 sat-TV with gyro, just to mention a few.

The vendors regard Cobalt Blue as a capable around-the-world cruiser and a rugged coastal passagemaker. Either way, they say, she is built to get you to your destination safely and in comfort.
