- Azimut 66 design to feature four cabins plus crew quarters.
Visitors to the Düsseldorf Boat Show got the first chance to admire the harmonious lines of the Azimut 66. A luxury motor yacht designed by Stefano Righini, it has the hallmark shark’s fin-shaped side windows and a particularly spacious elongated flybridge, while the prow area has been transformed into an exclusive lounge.
The carbon-fibre superstructure on the Azimut 66 makes the vessel considerably lighter and increases interior volume. Designer Carlo Galeazzi, who worked on the interiors with the shipyard’s styling office, not only came up with the usual refined decor but focused his attention on the need to optimise the use of space, obtaining extra storage in the already ample interior to make the Azimut 66 an even more convenient vessel.
Designed to CE Class-A, the Azimut 66 Fly features a pair of 1150hp Caterpillar C18 marine diesel engines capable of delivering 31kt at wide-open throttle or a more sedate cruising speed of 27 knots. Fuel capacity tops out at 3900 litres; there are also 980 litres of fresh, 200 litres of grey and 350 litres of black water.
With four cabins plus crew quarters, the design leans towards a more spacious environment rather than simply fitting as much in as possible. The master suite can be found mid-ships and is full beam, featuring a study, lounge and well-appointed en suite. Guest cabins consist of a bow double with en suite and three singles split between port and starboard cabins. Crew quarters consist of twin singles in a single cabin behind the engine room.
Inside the massive saloon, formal dining is found midships, centred on a well-appointed galley complete with bar. The lounge space makes best use of the elongated flybridge over the prow. The colour palette of dark woods and light fabrics is muted and soft recessed lighting is a theme throughout.
