BOAT REVIEW - SUNSEEKER MANHATTAN 65 and SUNSEEKER PREDATOR 57

The Sunseeker Manhattan 65 is the new flagship of the three-boat Manhattan range (55 to 65ft), while the Sunseeker Predator 57 is now the entry-level model of the four-model Predator class (57 to 85ft).

Sunseeker says its Manhattan yachts are designed to entertain and built to thrill, describing the new Sunseeker M65 as a “lavish display of versatility”.

The M65 caters for eight guests and two crew, and Sunseeker guarantees an opulent experience for all onboard, no matter what area they choose to relax in. That extends from the open flybridge party deck and its wealth of lounging and sunbaking choices, the foredeck sunbed, alfresco cockpit, saloon with aft lounge area behind the raised galley and dinette opposite, to the four-cabin accommodation including full-beam master amidships, plus stern crew quarters.

Available with either IPS pods or traditional shafts, the M65 showboat is powered by the latter via twin 1000hp MAN V8 diesels.

Sunseeker quotes a top speed of 33kts and a cruise of 23kts for the M65, with a range of some 270nm at economy speeds from the 3500lt fuel capacity.

Meanwhile, for those not wanting a flying bridge or the need to cater for a crowd, the Sunseeker Predator 57 will suit couples and small families.

Among the features on the P57 hardtop are an electric lowering door between saloon and cockpit, and an open plan layout with flexible design, enhanced by a fully opening hardtop roof and a moulded aft cockpit with large L-shaped seating, sunbed and wetbar. 

Noticeable in profile on both boats are prominent oversized hull windows. Mullion-free, these windows maximise natural light to the accommodation level, which on the P57 consists of two double-bed cabins (each with en suite) separated by a lounge area and third bunk cabin with galley opposite.

Performance, as you’d expect, doesn’t hold back. There’s 1800hp on tap from the combined effort of two Volvo Penta D13 diesel shaftdrives. Quoted top speed is 32kts, cruise is 23kts and range at economy pace is 250nm from 2200lt fuel capacity. Visit sunseeker.com.au for more information.
