New powercats: Fountaine Pajot MY37

Popular French luxury catamaran brand Fountaine Pajot has revamped its four-boat power range with a new entry-level MY37 expected for launch in early 2015.

The 36ft Fountaine Pajot MY37 replaces the Highland 35 and will be available in a three or four-cabin layout for personal cruising and chartering.

More importantly for our market, where outdoors living and entertaining take a high priority, the yard has focused on all the new boat’s exterior elements – flybridge, cockpit and foredeck.

As Fountaine Pajot stipulates, the MY37 is designed to optimise entertaining and relaxation, the 13.5m² cockpit itself mixing a six-seat dining table with unobtrusive flow to the saloon. The cockpit also has space for an optional extra fridge, barbecue and hydraulic gangway.

The flybridge of the Fountaine Pajot MY37 spreads over 12m² and is thus a big top-deck retreat for guests and crew. The starboard helm can be optioned with twin bucket seats and six can sit at the aft portside table. Custom options include a chaise lounge forward and an additional fridge. Both cockpit and flybridge can be protected from the blazing summer sun with optional biminis.

Sidedecks have tall rails leading to a large foredeck. There is minimal intrusion from a slightly raised sole making this area ideal for the sunbed option.

Entry is through large, sliding doors to the saloon where headroom is 2.1m and 360° panoramic windows also provide abundant natural luminosity. Other features include LED lighting and ample storage for extended passages. Available in two versions, the saloon can be optioned with a second wheelhouse or sofa. The galley has a 150lt drawer fridge, double sink and three-burner stove.

The three-cabin owner’s version of the Fountaine Pajot MY37 is said to boast a layout and fixtures befitting a boat of a much larger size.

“The four-cabin standard version of the MY37 is similarly endowed with ample storage, large cabins and has one expansive bathroom in each hull,” said Fountaine Pajot. “In both versions, the aft cabins have island beds while the beds in the forward cabins are not compromised in size unlike other cats in its class.”

The builder adds its team has made a powercat with all the key attributes of the yard’s range, including “excellent” offshore performance, stability, volume and long range.

With performance and economy also foremost in the design, the Fountaine Pajot MY37 has two 600lt fuel tanks, 350lt water tank, and optional genset and watermaker. Standard power is from twin 110hp diesels for projected top speeds of 20kts and an eco-cruising mode of 7.5kts for a reputed range of 1200nm.
