Kady-Krogen 70

New Kady-Krogen boats

It took more than three decades of plying the world’s oceans for long-established trawler-yacht brand Kadey-Krogen to finally make it Down Under. Its official Australian launch at this year’s Sanctuary Cove boat show with the KK48 carrying the flag to woo local audiences.

The Florida-USA based company builds its five-model displacement passagemaker/liveaboard range, from 44 to 58ft, in the Asian boat manufacturing powerhouse of Kaohsiung, Taiwan.

Kadey-Krogren promotes its raised pilothouse trawlers as efficient long-range ocean voyagers, targeting the adventurous husband and wife team with easily managed and handled, solidly constructed and luxuriously appointed boats.

Premium-priced, a quick flick through the specifications and extensive standard features list (the rival of option charts on other brands) reveals why. Notable are a rugged composite fibreglass build, efficient hull design, reliable John Deere propulsion, and a stack of equipment, fittings and systems as standard to get owners underway in true turnkey fashion.

Responding to clients’ requests for expanded social areas and extra accommodation, Kadey-Krogen is going up the range, recently announcing a bold expansion of its fleet at the top-end with four new boats: two 64 and 68 Expedition models, a 66 and a flagship 70.

The Expedition models, in particular, are available in several cabin versions including dedicated crew accommodation, and there’s a KK 80 also now on the drawing board.

“Truly, this project is a result of a collaborative effort between the Krogen family of Expedition series owners, prospective owners and the Kadey-Krogen in-house design team, led by naval architect Dave Glasco,” said John Gear, president of  Kadey-Krogen Yachts.

Hereabouts are preliminary sketches, introductory pricing and brief specifications of the new models. Kadey-Krogen is represented in Australia by Andrew Coffey’s Brokerage at the Quays Marina, Church Point, on Sydney’s Pittwater. For more information, visit quaysbrokerage.com.au; kadeykrogen.com
