New boats: Da Vinci 30

Expect to see a bit more European flair on local waterways in 2015 when eyachts begins distributing elegant motor cruisers from Dutch yard Da Vinci Yachts.

Known for that famous Dutch craftsmanship, durability and classic lines on its yachts, Da Vinci will initially present the Da Vinci 30, a retro-modern dayboat with overnighting capability.

The large, open cockpit on the Da Vinci 30 has seating for two at the helm, plus a rear lounge, two tables, wet bar and lots of room to enjoy it.

A smart-looking low-profile bimini will protect guests from the harsh Australian sun in the cockpit and there’s an option to fit a barbecue in this entertaining space.

Down below, the luxurious interior is equipped with cooking facilities, along with a bathroom comprising shower and toilet.

The sofa and height-adjustable dining can be converted to a large double bed, or a fixed island bed options is possible.

A high, curved glass windscreen evokes the classic cruisers of yesteryear and with its acres of teak trim, the Da Vinci 30 seems born for enjoying relaxing days on the water in timeless style.

The Australian models will be fitted with Yanmar diesels, in a range of power options from a single 180hp, 220hp, 260hp or twin 180s.

European versions with equivalent Volvo-Penta engines regularly reach top speeds in excess of 40kts, and there’s no doubt the twin 180hp upgrade would certainly get you moving faster than this.

There’s also a bowthruster to assist docking the 9.6m hull. Dan Jones of eyachts recently inspected the Da Vinci range and said the sporty cruisers were fantastic fun and beautifully built.

“The ride was superb and we all stayed dry even at high speeds,” he said.

“With the large bimini they are perfect for the Australian market – I can just picture them cruising up the canals of the Gold Coast, for example.
