Horizon RP110 on truck

HORIZON YACHTS | 2014 TAIWAN INTERNATIONAL BOAT SHOW

Horizon Yachts had the largest display out of all boat exhibitors at the 2014 Taiwan International Boat Show

Horizon Yachts had the largest display out of all boat exhibitors at the 2014 Taiwan International Boat Show. Horizon Yachts had 14 models on show, from the 335 Nimbus coupe to the Horizon RP 110 Carnival Liberty 3, and even a long-range EP148 at the dock.

The international press were invited to a quick harbour tour on the CC80 powercat which offered acres of space within an 8.3m beam and accommodation for 10 to 12 guests.

Inside the Kaohsiung Exhibition Centre (KEC), we were lucky enough to skip the growing lines of boat show visitors to sneak a look at the slick Horizon RP110 which arrives in Australia later this year. Horizon CEO John Lu personally took the press on a tour and the first thing I noticed on boarding was an enormous livebait tank on the aft deck – surely a first for a superyacht of this size? Apparently the owner is a keen fisherman, but when not in use, the tank is big enough to double as a cosy jacuzzi for one.

Inside, the Horizon RP (Raised Pilothouse) 110 is appropriately decadent: lush staterooms; clean, modern design; sizable crew quarters and a transom garage designed to house a 385 Williams jet tender. Up front, wide side decks provide access to a secluded foredeck retreat with bench seat, cocktail table and sunpads. The chief difference from the Horizon P110 Tri-Deck is a much larger flybridge deck beneath a generous hardtop, but also a more streamlined superstructure to keep everything in proportion.

The Swedish-built Nimbus 335 Coupe is another interesting model from this manufacturer to keep an eye out for – a sedan-style dayboat that Horizon Motor Yachts Australia may look to introduce to the local market down the track.
